Graham Oxford-Clay and Andy Aldred have set up MK FreeStyle Training Squad (www.mkfreestyle.co.uk ), this is part of Milton Keynes Canoe Club (www.canoemk.co.uk) but specifically focused on FreeStyle Kayaking however not excluding whitewater river running. The training is specifically aimed at introducing paddlers of all ages and abilities to having safe fun on moving water and the enjoyment of this highly exciting, skilful discipline. Some paddlers may want to reach competition level or simply learn new skills to help enjoy the water around the UK and further beyond, this section of MK Canoe Club is aimed at getting paddlers started, and helping them progress in what ever direction they want to take it. The training is broken down into 2 specific ares as follow:- Introduction to Freestyle (Flatwater) – this will be held on Tuesday nights at the club location of Caldecotte lake, and will cover Edging Moving Water Training – using features (playspots) around the UK This may include a summer trip to Nene, HPP or Boulters, Hurley Training - Progressing all paddlers from the Introduction course to moving water and giving existing Freestyle paddlers the ability to fine tune skills, learn new tricks, put together competition runs etc The training scheduled for Hurley our winter training spot is with the support of Kayakojacko (www.kayakojacko.co.uk) who will be providing the competition training. |
